Orbit

We got too close.
You meant to keep me
at an arm's length
but you miscalculated and
brought me to an elbow.

Out of fear,
you pushed me so far
you overcorrected.
Clumsily,
you reached out your hand
but it never connected.

Outside of your orbit,
i began to hear
"you'll only be neglected,
