governance

it hurts to survive
and thrive by the guidance
of someone else's governance.
even their religion taught me to fear 
demons though they exist within 
the angels the same book praises.
serenading my insecurities
and othering the remaining world.
fostering a false sense of belonging
that disconnected me from the earth.
attempting to sever my instinct to think for myself
and discard my faith in my own self worth
for someone else.
